Conjunctions

[adrotate banner=”3″]

Conjunctions connect nouns, adjectives, verbs, phrases or sentences. They introduce subordinate clauses and determine the relationship between the main clause and the subordinate clause.

A distinction is made between secondary and subordinate conjugations. The subordinate conjugations connect sentences of equal rank, i.e. main sentences.

Example:

Estos son Marcos y Juan

In main clauses, the nouns can easily be interchanged. The sentence could also be as follows:

Estos son Juan y Marcos

The subordinate conjunctions connect sentences with each other, one of which is subordinate to the other, i.e. main sentences with subordinate sentences.

Example:

Espero que para ti esté bien

A conjunction word can be used to combine two sentences into one:

Consequence:por eso, por tanto, por esta razón, por este motivo…

Cause: como, porque, es que …

Time: cuando, al cabo de, después (de), antes (de), en ese momento …

Contradiction: pero, sin embargo…

Simultaneity: mientras, al mismo tiempo …

Proceed step by step: por un lado … por otro (lado)…, primeramente/en primer lugar …en segundo (lugar), finalmente/al final…
