Modal Conjunctions

Modal conjunctions introduce a subordinate clause that contains information about the manner in which the statement is made in the main clause. The most important modal conjunctions are como and sin que.

Como (as)

With como follows the subjuntivo, if the subordinate clause refers to possible or future.

Hazlo como quieras.

Como si (as if)

After como si there is always the subjuntivo and only the verb times imperfect or past perfect are possible.

ActĂșa como si ella fuera tu madre.

Sin que (without)

Sin que is always used with the subjuntivo

No puedo hacer nada sin que mi jefe me critique.
